Note on Style

These blog entries are more like a free-form voice-log. I literally just talk into a microphone and transcribe it later, then clean it up slightly - really, not much. If you like that kind of style, you’ll enjoy the blog. If that triggers your linguistic connoisseur, I’m sorry to disappoint.

First Look of the Day

I woke up, and yesterday it annoyed me that the link color was white, so it looked like all the other text. Usually, it would pick up the accent color set in Ghost, but the Liebling theme didn’t. I went in and fixed it, and now it’s picking up the theme colors again. First win of the day!

Update: also added social sharing buttons to post.hbs for reddit and linkedin, increasing options from just twitter/x and facebook.

Framework for the Project

I’ve decided to go with another 12-week year sprint, which is basically 12 one-week sprints where you try to execute for at least 80% targeted at the project.

The conditions are three rules, two options, one goal:

One goal

the IoT project — getting it done, getting it working, making it nice

Two options

  • Recovery/Boredom
  • Advancement/Progress

Three rules

(especially post-burnout; rules by which you manage your life):

  1. If it doesn’t contribute to the goal, it detracts from the goal.
  2. Problems do not exist until they are real.
  3. Build now, tune later.

What does it mean? There is no other entertainment and no other sidetracks. You are allowed to either be bored, sleep, or make progress. These are the only options.

That’s three rules, two options, one goal. We’ve got 12 weeks. Let’s go.
